Finding Your First Home
IF you’ve arrived at this page, chances are you already have done a significant amount of searching on the net for homes. Frankly, the internet has revolutionized the home search process. It used to be that Realtors only had access to new listings. Buyers’ “first look” at a home was arranged by a Realtor, or experienced through an Open House. Not anymore.
Now, the internet provides the equivalent of “Open Houses” that gives consumers their first look at the market. There is a problem though. You don’t have the right tools for conducting a serious search. Consumer sites like Trulia and Zillow are great for the casual search and they are great for helping you get a good “feel” for neighborhoods and pricing. When you begin a serious search, you need a lot more horsepower.
Consumer real estate portals are neither in the business of real estate, nor are they in the information business. They are advertising platforms. Their actual intent is to get real estate agents to pay for advertising on their sites. That’s how they make money.
In contrast, I pay a subscription fee for access to my information that I provide you. The big differences are accuracy and timeliness. ALL of the listing information I provide my clients is a result of strict entry guidelines and are verifiable. It is also updated in real time. Consumer portals are notoriously late in publishing new listings and removing old ones.

The Search Tools You Need
Once we start working together, I have several tools that will help you find the right place for you. The results of some will come directly to me for my review. Others, give you control, but have several advantages over the consumer sites. First they’re tied directly to our MLS, so they are updated in real time. They also have more precise search parameters. Additionally, you can set up several searches for different scenarios. However the best part is that they don’t have any ads, and they don’t collect your contact info for resale. Please contact me so I can set up your initial searches, or you can try one yourself. Go to my “FIND HOMES” page, in the Upper Right Corner, you’ll find a link for “Create a HomePilot Account” and follow the instructions. Clicking HERE will take you to the page.
